{Melinda’s Maternity} Naples, Everglade City, Port of the Islands Maternity & Newborn Photography at Port of the Islands Resort

June 30, 2014

This maternity shoot was an awesome challenge!  It was awesome because we had such a picturesque, eerie, cool, out-there location with two (and 3/4) beautiful, in-love people to pose. On the other hand, we were battling against some forces of nature that almost won; Mosquito swarms that I’m surprised didn’t lift me up and carry me away and a fast-brewing rainstorm that lingered just in the distance long enough to capture some unforgettable moments.  Melinda, our mommy-to-be, is a hobby portrait photographer who I had the pleasure of meeting on my wedding day! Since that day we have remained friends.  Today we have more than photography in common- as you can see Melinda’s about to pop with her first baby too! A boy they will name Lucas, due August 1st.   Jarrad and I are excited to connect with such a fun little family right before our very own family grows by two feet. So Melinda scouted out this location herself, which is about 20 minutes outside of town at the old abandoned and creepy (check out the last picture) Port-of-the-Islands Resort (not to be confused with the one that is currently still in business across the street).  Out here Florida wildlife roams freely which definitely kept us on our feet. We saw Bear Scat, HUGE tortoises and heard about 12 foot Gator sightings. This place is South Florida’s “finest”.  Our shoot got cut short due to the weather but the shot of Adrian and Melinda on the ground with the dark gray clouds looming in the distance is hardly phothoshopped- that’s REALLY what we were seeing with our own eyes.  It was “End-of-the-World” sky, we joked.  I think, all in all, we came out with some beautiful shots showing off Melinda and Adrian. I can’t wait to see baby Lucas when he arrives 🙂   BTW Isn’t Melinda’s ran and blue belt so cute!  She MADE IT HERSELF!  Who, besides me, wants one?! Oooh Meeeeeelinddddaaaaaa 🙂
